The bonded seal is a combination made up of a metal washer and an elastomer lip stuck to the metal element by means of vulcanisation.
The metal washer (made of galvanised steel or stainless steel) makes sure that the connecting components stay safely fastened together. The thickness of the washer limits the compression of the elastomer lip (NBR or FKM/Viton®) and thus avoids excessive tightening being exerted on the seal. This is how it ensures a tight seal. The internal pressure increases the plugging force when the sealing lip is activated. The bonded seal is available in various formats, normal and self-centring.
